3. Awesome Support Staff

Phonics are very important when reading. We have started working on Vowels in our groups.  Recognizing the letters and making the sounds is a skill that we will continue to focus on.  a, e, i, o, u, and sometimes y are the vowels that were identified.  This week we are working on long and short vowels.

The snow melted!

Yosra and Abbas outside playing with the cold, white, snow!

Bubble map  describing snow

Students wrote about snow

Yosra is holding snow

Today students discussed why snow is white! They learned that a snowflake is actually clear. They also learned that when snowflakes fall onto each other the color looks white.  We went outside to touch the snow. Students took notes and noticed  that snow is white, cold, and it melts!

Remember to look for words that have the sh digraph.  We already came up with …

fish, wish, dish, and wash

Here is a link to help you come up with more:)

In first grade, Islam, Ali, and Abdulhamid are creating sentences. They wrote sentences about the different fruits and vegetables they read about in the story, In the Garden.
