Fordson Lock Down

Thursday, March 01, 2012 2:18 PM

Hello Staff, Parents, and Community Members,

By this time facebook, twitter, text, tumbler, e-mail messages, and traditional media outlets have probably already provided you with information regarding a lockdown today at Fordson High School.

Now let me take this opportunity to provide you with some factual information from the source.

This morning, Fordson received a phone call warning them that two specific individuals could be the target of violent behavior. As a precautionary measure the school went into lockdown mode and contacted the Dearborn Police. The police conducted an investigation into the call. It was determined that there was no credible threat to the students or staff at the school and the lockdown was lifted. The entire lockdown lasted approximately 3 hours.

During the lockdown, one student was apprehended by police for not obeying the lockdown rules, ignoring security and police officers request to stop, and fleeing from police. This student had no connection to the phone call made earlier in the day.  Several pictures of the student being apprehended by police were posted on twitter and facebook.

Again, the action taken today was a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all students and no harm came to any of the young men and women at Fordson High School.

The staff and students are to be commended for their professional behavior during this lockdown. The students were well behaved and the staff went above and beyond to maintain a safe and secure learning environment.

Thank you and have a pleasant day,

David
