Oakman School News

What is Happening This Week?

Greetings Oakman Families,

That is correct, “The Learning Continues”. Welcome to our 5th week of distance learning. This has been a very unique experience for all of us. While learning is continuing for students, teachers have also been learning and adjusting to the new online platform. Last week our teachers took part in daily professional development (learning) and were able to collaborate and learn from one another in this new learning and teaching environment. As always, we are all ready and available to support and guide you in any way we can.

Last week, Dearborn School’s continued learning plan was approved. Here is a summary of the plan that will take effect this week:

  • Learning will continue using a variety of tools (mostly online)
  • Chromes will be distributed again (date/time to be determined)
  • Work assigned by teachers will be monitored and factored into a grade
  • Individual circumstances will be taken into consideration when grading – Students who truly cannot do the work will not be penalized
  • Student work will be checked at least twice a week
  • Students who are not completing work will be contacted by teacher/staff
  • Special education students will continue to be individualized

Please know that Oakman teachers and staff are available to assist in any way possible. Thank you for your continued support and work with your children at home. Please be sure to check teacher blogs, Class Dojo and Google Classrooms on a regular basis.

Thank you and have a SUPER WEEK!
