Thank you to all the parents who have sent food items with their children. Ms. Nasir’s class is in the lead with 204 cans! That is amazing for 1st graders! Our mitten tree is bursting with hats and mittens. This is wonderful as the cold weather is upon us and many of our own students are without these items. The rest will be donated to those in need within our community. Keep up the great work Oakman Families!

Whose class will can him this year?  Also, please buy one set of  hats or mittens for our tree. These will be donated to those less fortunate than we are.

Next week we will begin our annual “Can the Principal” event.  Children are asked to bring in non-perishable food items. Each year we surpasss the previous  by collecting the most amount of goods and are recognized for having the highest percentage in particpation for a small school throughout the district. Our goal to beat this year is 1845 items! They will go to needy seniors and families. Once again, the class that collects the most items will be awarded a pizza and pop party. Also, our Mitten Tree will be waiting to be dressed in hats and gloves for those in need. Please send one new pair with your child soon. Each child that donates a warm item to wear (new) will get a treat from Ms. Dakroub.

Please do not send cereal box labels to the school anymore. We have no use for them. We are asking for box tops. They look like the picture below and can be found on most cereal boxes. Also send cell phones and printer ink cartridges. We recycle these items for $. You know you have them. Save them in a bag and send when it is full.

Thank you for all your support. It is greatly appreciated.
