Our School Won!

Congratulations and thank you to the Oakman families and teachers who donated to the Firefighters Burn Drive on Oct. 4th. We all wore red and showed our support! We may be a small school but we raised the most money and our efforts will be rewarded tomorrow at the Hockey Tournament between DPS teachers and the Dearborn Firefighters. Come watch as members of the Oakman Staff drop the first puck and receive the Center Ice Award which will be displayed in our school for a year. This event will take place at U of M-Dearborn’s Fieldhouse, 4901 Evergreen Rd game starting @ 7pm. The event is free.

Reminders

All Frankenmuth orders are due. Please sell as much as you can to raise funds for Oakman School and return the package to the teacher as soon as possible. Try to sell or purchase just one item per family. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. The top seller will choose a toy from the showcase. It has been the same child two years in a row and we are grateful to the Jadallah family for their efforts. The family sells to colleagues at work.  Great idea!

There will be a popcorn sale on Friday. Ms Harb is looking for volunteers. Call her at 478-8491 to help. Notes will go home today for orders. Please send in your money by Friday. It is $0.50 per bag.

Congratulations!

Today the PTA awarded Ms. Beydoun’s Kindergarten class a pizza party for having the most PTA memberships per class. They also awarded Ms. Hespen’s first grade class an ice cream party for coming in second place. Wow! Great job for your efforts.

The winning parents of the raffle for joining the PTA were Ms. Hanine Dabaja and Ms. Amjid Monyiddan (Hassan). They both received a Target gift card as a token of appreciation. Ms. Amjid donated cases of water and snacks for the upcoming MEAP test for all 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. Thank you to the Hassan family.

Today’s parent meeting was very successful. We hope you understood how things operate here at Oakman School and the great commitment we have to your children.  We had over 70 parents attend. Your support is evident this year and building bridges with the Oakman staff is the key to academic success. Help us to help your children become the best students possible and move on to be successful adults. We are partners in education.

Have a wonderful weekend and congratulations on a wonderful start to the new school year!

Title I and MEAP Parent Meeting this Friday 10-07-11

October 6, 2011

Dear Parents,

This Friday October 7th at 8:45am, please join Mr. Awada and his staff in the cafeteria for our first parent meeting. We will discuss our Title I plan and show you how we spend our federal funds to educate your child. It is YOUR right to know this information and to hear how we operate. Come share ideas and give us your input to help improve Oakman School.

Also, MEAP is around the corner and we are busy getting your child ready. All 3rd, 4th and 5th grade parents are to attend. We will be discussing how to prepare your child for the MEAP at home and at school. If you want your child to succeed on this statewide test make sure you don’t miss this meeting. The session will help your child become a better student even if they are not taking the MEAP. See you there!
