District Offers Classes to Teach

Parents Strategies to Help Students Succeed

Parents of students who attend Dearborn Public Schools who are interested in learning communication skills to help their children increase achievement or reduce discipline issues are invited to attend free, evening Parent Talk sessions this winter.

“The classes focus on helping parents positively impact the social and emotional development of children and family members,” notes District Parent Involvement Educator Margaret Ahmed-King, the class instructor. “Parents will learn practical skills that empower and encourage responsible behaviors, self-motivation and character development.”

Parent Talk classes will be held 5:30-7 p.m. in room 25 at the Dearborn Public Schools Administrative Service Center on the following Tuesdays: January: 12, 19, 26 and February: 2, 9, 16, 23, followed by graduation onMarch 1, 2016. The ASC is located at 18700 Audette, Dearborn, MI 48124.

A Certificate of Completion is awarded to participants who complete the course.

Classes are free, however registration is required. Interested parents should email Margaret Ahmed-King at ahmedm@dearbornschools.org or call (313) 827-8788 and provide their name, phone number and choice of either an English or Arabic workbook.
