Online Learning During COVID19 School Closing

Greetings Oakman Families,

As you are aware, schools are closed until April 13. While this is a necessary measure for everyone’s safety, students are missing valuable instructional time at school. Oakman teachers and teachers across the district will be in constant contact with students in order to provide online and remote learning opportunities. Classroom teachers have already started to post to their blogs, Google Classroom and Class Dojo in order to define the daily learning expectations for every student.

The Oakman community has always played a leading role in how teachers, students and parents work together to put students first. We are now asking parents to ensure that students have access and make time to complete their daily work. Work together with your children and put together a schedule for them to follow. Children thrive when there are set routines and schedules in place.

Although most of the teacher’s daily expectations will be posted online, we are not promoting technology as the only learning resource. We want to stress the importance of keeping screen time to a minimum and allow for hands-on activities, reading books, writing, STEAM activities and playing outdoors if possible.

All teachers will continue to update their Blogs/ Class Dojo and can be reached by email with any questions or concerns.

This is a sample schedule that students can possibly follow. Please also refer to teachers blogs and Class Dojo for scheduling and assignments.
